Specialised planning is followed by a detailed design process to determine the best drainage solution for the client’s specific needs.
During the design of surface drainage we make use of the latest software to simulate rainfall and using the determined results we start the design to prevent ponding and erosion in the field. We will then alter the design to get the best result with the minimum soil moved.
If you look at the existing topography, you will be able to see that the natural contours of the field that prevents water from exiting the field and resulting a loss in yield due to water logging or ponding.
After simulating rainfall events the Existing Ponding Analysis will show any problem areas. Our software will estimate the yield loss on a specific field due to ponding based on user crop value. Through this analysis it can be determined whether it is economically viable to do surface drainage on a field.
The amount of earth works are also given, allowing an accurate calculation of earth work costs. The final cost is based on this calculation and is disclosed before the work begins. To ensure that no further ponding will exist after completion, the proposed topography is analysed once again.
With subsurface drainage we take the following into consideration:
1. HYDRAULIC CONDUCTIVITY TEST
The saturated hydraulic conductivity of the specific fields’ soil to determine the spacing of laterals.
2. SOIL PROFILE
The soil profile to determine the effective depth of the drainage installed.
3. TYPE OF SOIL
The type of soil to determine the minimum and maximum allowable flow velocities in the pipes to prevent them from silting and blockage.
4. WATER SHEDS
Water sheds are also considered to determine the correct placing of mains and laterals.
1. PIPE PARAMETERS
In our design software, each pipes parameters are set to control minimum, maximum and targeted depths as well as minimum slopes and pipe sizes.
We then analyse a complete design for correct installation and to view each pipes profile. Upon completion, each installation is once again analysed by our software.
3. EFFICIENT PLANNING
We work according to an efficient plan to solve drainage problems as oppose to trying to target areas by single pipes, which we know doesn’t work.
4. HOLISTIC WATER MANAGMENT
